After PCB order, Paneer factory power supply broke

Sehore (Madhya Pradesh): The Power Distribution Corporation cut power to Jayshree Gayatri Food and Paneer Factory in the village of Peepliya Mira on Friday, official sources said on Saturday.

The Energy Department followed an order from the Pollution Control Board.

According to reports, the Pollution Control Board (PCB) issued an order a few days ago that the Paneer factory was not taking any action to control pollution.

In the order, it was also stated that the power supply to the company should be interrupted and after that the electric utility began to take action.

The electric company’s sudden action shocked the factory management.

As the unit processes dairy products, it must have a cold store. The PCB order came after villagers complained about the polluted water discharged from the plant.

Villagers were unhappy with officials’ failure to implement the PCB order, sources added. A few villagers also complained to the PCB.

Sources at the factory said nearly 1,000 farmers are indirectly associated with the factory.

As the power supply was cut off, the plant ceased to operate, sources added.

On the other hand, those who were fed up with pollution are now happy.

A filtration plant was set up to drain dirty water from the plant into a nearby drain through pipes, but the drain dried up.

Power company chief engineer CK Panwar said the power supply to Paneer’s factory was cut off after the company received an order for PCBs.

The action was taken in accordance with the rules, Panwar said.
